Dark Skin Can Win
I over heard a little girl today tell her sister not to call her dark. She was ashamed to be darker then a light skinned sister. It’s so sad that as a kids they don’t understand the whole light skin dark skin Black American thing. Really it’s nothing to understand. Simply, our society manipulates us in to thinking the lighter the skin and eyes, the more beautiful you are. It’s something every dark skin person I know have faced. I faced the same issue when I was younger. Sometimes now when people say they “don’t date dark skin men.” My mom and older sister are a lot tanner now but when I was younger people didn’t even think I was related to them. I use to be ashamed to have dark skin. But a few years back I started to embrace it and loving it. I’m beyond my skin. If you can’t see pass this sun soaked, dark chocolate silky skin then you’re not for me either. Love the skin you in!
